SHS Gardens
"Flowers are my music."
- Sir Thomas Arnold
SHS maintains 13 public gardens in Swarthmore: Gateway Park, Centennial Park, Alex's Garden at the Post Office, the Co-op flower bed, the Clock Tower garden, the War Memorial Garden, Lincoln Way Garden, the Town Center Container Gardens, the Central Park planters, and 4 gardens adjacent to Borough Hall.
Each of our gardens receives a makeover twice a year--spring and fall--on a "Changeover Day" organized by the garden managers. And so, each garden changes with each season. If you'd like to see photos of the different iterations of our gardens since 2011, click on the following links:

Our Garden Managers
Each of our 13 gardens has a Garden Manager who oversees the design, planting, and maintenance of the garden, with the assistance of a team of volunteers. These GMs are the ones who really carry out our primary mission - making Swarthmore bloom!
Many, many thanks to our hard-working, creative, inspirational Garden Managers!
← There's no off-season for a GM!
